What is the Sheep's Nest?

"The Sheep's Nest" is a charming little English Cottage nestled in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains. My husband and I visited England in 2009 and were so inspired by the cottages that we decided to build our own here in upstate NY. Here you will find Country French Embellishments for your home. A blend of old and new with a touch of European elegance. Come visit us and have a cup of tea, or nestle in at home and enjoy us here on the web.

Welcome and Cheers!

Happy New Year!!!

Welcome to 2012!!  I expect to have many, many new and exciting things to share with you this year.  The sheep are all coming into their warm and wooly coats.  A few of the gals have been introduced to Dooley and Patrick (our beautiful rams).  Babies are expected the end of May!  Sixty bags of wool have gone off to my processor and some are ready to pick up, coming back to me as beautiful skeins of yarn.  Our first Holiday Season at the Sheep's Nest was very successful and we thank all of our customers.  The shop will continue to be open through the winter and many new items will be coming in weekly.  My studio/workshop is all set up for me to start creating in the New Year and several ideas are floating about in my head.

If you live in the area, stop in and see our Valentine's Day tree.

We also have put several winter/Christmas items on sale for 30% off.

The latest issue of Jeanne d'Arc Living is in!!!
No longer are there ads, which really makes this a beautiful soft cover book!
For sale in the shop for $20.
I can also ship out to anyone who is interested for $26

I hope everyone has a very happy and safe and creative New Year!!

A Little Taste of Christmas...

YES IT IS HERE!!!!!  And, it is wonderful!!!!
$26 includes shipping

As we get ready for our Holiday Open House to be held Thanksgiving Weekend, I thought I would share with you some of the wonderful ornaments we have decorated the trees with.

I have embellished some old photo's with vintage lace and trim and hung them on the feather tree.  I wish that these photo's could talk, some of the expressions are just priceless!

This baby is sitting in a wonderful old wicker chair!

This ornament I made using a pressed cardboard walnut that I painted and then embellished with lace and vintage trims.  I then added an antique frozen charlotte doll.  These dolls were found outside a factory in Germany that was bombed out during the war.  There are folks that go on "digs" and discover all kinds of treasures.  I would love to explore around these old doll factories!

These ornaments are all covered in glass glitter and look so pretty when the lights reflect off of them.

This is just a beautiful glass swallow with a sprig of flowers in his beak. What is it about birds that just fascinates us?
T

This glass glittered bird has a  tag around his neck with a little message.  Some say "hope" , "dream" and "wish".

Website Update

Whew !! It certainly takes alot of time to create a website!  In my case we could probably say years!  Anyway, for now I have finally gotten a start on things and have a webshop open.  I have added things from my "brick and mortar" shop including wool from our sheep.  So if you like, come and take a look, and please feel free to "critique".  I am sure you will find some errors and I would truly appreciate the help in pointing them out so I can fix them.

I am also getting pretty close to having 100 followers, which must mean it will be time for a give away!  Once I reach 100 I will post about my giveaway, so stay tuned.....
Please share with your friends.

Come and see these items and more at www.thesheepsnest.com

Just In.....

In an attempt to find new and exciting things to feature in my shop, I am always on the look out for something different.  New in this week is a wonderful magazine straight from Denmark.  With only a few pages of ads at the back of the magazine (which by the way are just as beautiful as the articles), this is more of a book than magazine.  Jeanne d'Arc Living Magazine is a Home Design Magazine with a French Nordic look.  Beautiful photographs and articles to inspire you to decorate, bake/cook and garden.  My new favorite magazine that is hard to find and only a few select shops will be carrying.  Stop by and take a look.  Magazine is $20 if you come and pick it up yourself, or $26 to have it shipped.  Exchange rates and shipping fees overseas add up, but this magazine/book is so worth it! Take a peak....

WOW

What an incredible opening weekend!
The excitement of the people who came and the comments that were made some how makes all the hard work so worth it.
"A hidden treasure" is a comment I heard a few times.

My husband, John built a "concept wine cellar" to give people ideas of what they can do in their homes. Still some finishing touches to be completed.

If you are ever in the upstate NY area stop by for a visit.
