A Little Taste of Christmas...

 As we get ready for our Holiday Open House to be held Thanksgiving Weekend, I thought I would share with you some of the wonderful ornaments we have decorated the trees with.

I have embellished some old photo's with vintage lace and trim and hung them on the feather tree.  I wish that these photo's could talk, some of the expressions are just priceless!

This baby is sitting in a wonderful old wicker chair!

This ornament I made using a pressed cardboard walnut that I painted and then embellished with lace and vintage trims.  I then added an antique frozen charlotte doll.  These dolls were found outside a factory in Germany that was bombed out during the war.  There are folks that go on "digs" and discover all kinds of treasures.  I would love to explore around these old doll factories!

These ornaments are all covered in glass glitter and look so pretty when the lights reflect off of them.

 This is just a beautiful glass swallow with a sprig of flowers in his beak. What is it about birds that just fascinates us?

This glass glittered bird has a  tag around his neck with a little message.  Some say "hope" , "dream" and "wish".

Some of my Past Artwork

I thought I'd take the time to search through my old photos to show you some of the things that I have made in the past.  I use to sell my dolls under the name "Things That Make You Smile", of course once I had a telemarketer ask if I was a dentist! Oh well.  Wonder what they will think of "The Sheep's Nest",hmmmm.

This is Mabel and she was feature in an Early American Life article some years back.  I think she is one of my favorite dolls that I have made.

Here is a sweet little pumpkin girl, I have a great collection of antique petticoats and linens that I love to use in all different types of artwork.

Her dress was made from a homespun wool sheet.

This is something I made more recently.  I had gotten a box full of broken china pieces from Germany and for years was waiting for just the right project to use them.  I am quite happy with how she turned out.  The dress is made from crepe paper.

I have also done some needle felting, like the head on this santa.

Well I hope you enjoyed looking as some of my past work.  I'm hoping that this will give me the boost I need to start on some new projects!

Finished the Wreath

Ok Remember the Coffee Filter Wreath?

I do like it plain like this and maybe will make another .

But I added some birds and some ribbons....

Now I have to figure out what to do with the tree!!

Then I got busy working on a little metal suitcase I picked up....

I covered it with old sheets of music, handle covered in some old binding that I stamped with some feathers.

Then I altered the inside and added a real birds nest and some quail eggs as well as some other little trinkets.

This was a lot of fun, I will have to look from some more boxes or old cases to play with some more!
