Out Sick.....And now Snowed in........

But, hopefully back on my feet.  I've been away from blogland for over a week, wow do I have some catching up to do.

We are snowed in today and expect to get up to 30" of snow by the time it ends tomorrow or Saturday!
It is real pretty though.

I thought I'd start by sharing a few pictures of some of the props I have picked up to use in my shop.
I just got this great dressform.  I can't wait to drape her in jewlery or scarves or maybe pin cards on her!

Now isn't this an interesting dressform?  It is wire and is adjustable there is a cloth measuring tape that woven through it.  Any suggestions as to how to use this?

Here is a cute little cupboard that I bought for the shoppe.  But right know it is housing some of my wool and felting supplies, and as you can see Alex has found a cozy spot on top!

This is my favorite new/old find.  I'm not sure how old it is but it has the great peely paint look.  As I was going through some of the catalogs to place orders for the shoppe I saw similar reproductions for more money than I paid for this!  I love it!

The problem now is that I have all these "props" in my house and have decorated with them I won't want to give them up for the shoppe!

On another note, Monday in our local paper there was an article about the expansion of our little village.  I was lucky enough to have been apart of this.  As a precursor, our village has been promoting itself as a book village.

In the fall, John and Kim Whritner plan to open The Sheep's Nest on their sheep farm located at the far east end of the village.

According to Kim Whritner, the shop will offer home-spun wool and linen items as well as home decor with an Old World flavor.

"We are building a cottage on our property to replicate an old English cottage. We will offer yarn products made from the wool of the sheep we raise. We will also showcase home decor with a European flair," she said. "My husband is a carpenter, and we will also have a kitchen showroom. I plan to have studio space where people can come to create, whether it is knitting or scrapbooking. All the things I love I am trying to bring together."

The Sheep's Nest will also sell items produced from local farmers and craftspeople. Whritner has joined many other business owners and residents on the village economic development committee. She said the book village is a great start, and "now we need other businesses to open up that will compliment the book shops."
If you would like to read the rest of the article you can find it here at The Daily Star.

Well that's it for today, hopefully I am back on track and will be blogging regularly!  HUGS to all!

  2. Hi Kim,
I'm new to blogging and found your comment on the Feathered Nest and followed the link. I love both your blogs. I get a lot of inspiration for my artwork from animals and love your photos. I almost wish I could bring Corn-Dog to live here in Michigan and I can certainly see why Gloria is smitten.
Your wire dressform is terrific and would look great with vintage milinery flowers, lace, and old photos clipped to it.
