Well the hustle and bustle of the Summer is gone.  The kids are back to school and the shop is getting closer to completion.  Our new anticipated opening is Spring 2011.  Which will actually give me the winter months to settle in and get things set up.  We still haven't settled on a front door yet, I am still pushing for that arched top door with the speak easy!  The next major projects

Well, the walls are up and in place. The next step is to chose just the right old barn beams to use. We also used old barn wood for the joists and the ceiling/second story floor. The patina is just beautiful. The old barn beams served as the posts to be exposed on the inside of the building. The roof is next!!!!

Well the weekend was a busy one with lots of hard work and help! The concrete was set to arrive Saturday morning with John worried there wasn't going to be enough.  So in a panic he called and had them add another truck, thank goodness he did!  With 3 truck loads of concrete we just made it. With the radiant heat tubes buried in the concrete, this will be our actual floor of the shop.  So, now

While visiting my parents on LI we went to this amazing place that I have gone to since I was a little girl.It is called the Morton Preserve.  Here, there are trails to walk on through the woods that lead to the beach.  There are no guides and there is nothing commercial about this place.  But the amazing thing is that the birds here have become so used to people that they come and feed right out

I thought I'd share some photos with you of some of my animals.  These are not new photo's just ones that make me smile! Here is Betula with one of her babies getting a drink. Here is a newborn who is now full grown with children of her own! Twins!  I just love it when the sheep have twins, they play so well together. Here is Casper, he is no longer with us, but was such a beautiful rooster.

This was the last thing I saw before I went to bed last night. This is what I woke up to this morning... 4 feet of snow! Here's my husband making his way out to the Rams to make sure they are not buried!  Thank goodness they were ok, the snow is over their heads!

Once I put the Christmas decorations away I am so ready for Spring!  Although this year I have decided to decorate for Winter.  So I left out the snowmen and took down the candy canes and put up the snowflakes.  Here in upstate NY Winter can go into April!  So I  may as well embrace it.

Well yesterday I had to go into the big town (which for me is 40 minutes away).  So I couldn't go without hitting the big antique market place.  Here are all of my new goodies and nothing cost more than $15.  Most things were around $4!!!  I hit it right this time.... well onto undecorating the Christmas tree today.....
